Paige Alisen, PhD, President & Founder
Dr. Alisen is an educator, author, and activist who has extensive experience working on behalf of women's and children's rights. She has become an expert on trauma and trauma-related disorders and conducts workshops on post-traumatic stress. She is the author of Finding Courage to Speak: Women's Survival of Child Abuse (Northeastern University Press/UPNE, 2003).
Peg Bortner, PhD
Dr. Bortner is currently the Director for the Center for Urban Inquiry and a Professor at Arizona State University. Dr. Bortner has spent her lifetime working towards issues of social justice, racial, economic, and sexual equality, and women's and children's rights. She is author of the books, Youth in Prison (Routledge, 1998) and Delinquency and Justice (McGraw-Hill, 1988).
Eileen Sacra Capaccio, CPA, HSU Lecturer
Eileen Sacra Capaccio has been in public accounting in Humboldt County for over 20 years. She had her own practice in Arcata for 16 years and joined the firm of Hunter, Hunter & Hunt in 2006. She has also been a part-time lecturer in the Business Department of Humboldt State University since 1998. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and licensed in California and Oregon.
Kit Crosby-Williams, MS, MFT
Kit Crosby-Williams has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1986 and has worked extensively with abused and traumatized women. She has worked with a number of nonprofit agencies, from housing issues to family advocacy. Kit has always been an advocate and voice for social justice. She currently has a small private practice in Eureka, California where she offers sliding-scale services.
Annette Gilbertson, MSW
Ms. Gilbertson is a dedicated therapist and has worked with the issues facing survivors of abuse and trauma for the past 18 years. She has been a passionate advocate for women's and children's rights for most of her life. Currently, Ms. Gilbertson is a family therapist in San Jose, California.
Lesley Manson, PsyD, Board Secretary
Dr. Lesley Manson provides consultative, individual, family, couples, and group therapy treatment at Open Door Community Health Center in Arcata, California. She frequently provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative services to local public schools. She has worked in a variety of settings, including nursing homes, hospitals, schools, community agencies, and general medical settings providing diagnosis and treatment for PTSD. She is a board member for the Arcata House and a member of the Humboldt Domestic Violence Death Review Team. She obtained her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University in Phoenix, Arizona with an emphasis on trauma.
